Beautiful Puerto Galera
ATM Modus Operandi
The author of this email message is a batchmate of mine from high school.
Visit to Sabang after TyphoonATM goons at it again!!!
I was withdrawing money at a bank branch at Makati Cinema Square at
around 9:40 and everything more or less went well. The machine
accepted my card, released my card, and I proceeded with my
transaction. The machine did the usual things but suddenly made some
loud noises and didn't release my money. It DID release my receipt
which showed that the money was debited from my account although it
wasn't released! I called the "24 Hour Hotline" but never got an
answer. I actually tried to check if the money just got stuck in the
door of the ATM release slot, but when I felt it there was something
gooey and sticky so I immediately called for backup while making sure
my arms were ready in case something funny happened.
There were two people outside the ATM who kept coming and going, looking inside
the ATM room, as if to check if I was leaving anytime soon. Good thing
my uncle and my friends were able to come right away - and the two guys
disappeared.
Upon further inspection with a flashlight, we were able to see that
there was a PAINTED ALUMINUM STRIP blocking the release slot. (See the
photos I incuded with this email)It was carefully measured so it
looked like a part of the door! Bien immediatly called the bank
manager's cellphone and reported the incident. We decided to remove
the metal thing because we could see parts of the money underneath it.
We waited for a security guard of the mall to arrive before we did
anything, and we videoed the proceedings.
This isn't something new, but I never thought that it would happen to
ME. I'll be posting the video on my multiply site soon. Stay safe
everyone. Daming tarantado ngayon.
Tom
P.S. Thanks to Bien, Allan, Manny, and Jeff for being there, and to
the guards of MCS.
I was in Big Apple in Sabang last December 4 to 6 to do pest control in the place and it was so sad to see the whole Sabang in a mess from the last time I was there in September. Most of the resorts have their roofs blown away and started repairing it. In Big Apple, electricity is from 4pm to 11 am the following day...so from 11am onwards when they turned off generator,I go look in other resorts, walked around the beach, go to the rocks, go to town proper and visit my friends in Dulangan...where they dont have electric power also. Other than that, Puerto Galera is still a very nice place to visit.
According to my friends in Dulangan electric power is back now, but once in awhile its off. I just hope that the government will do something about that and fix everything else...
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

Puerto Galera is one of my favorite place to visit because of its serenity and peaceful environment. The people here are hospitable and kind. The beaches are nice and got fantastic views on sunrise & sunset. Near my friends' house is a small beach resort called Aplaya Munti, where you can enjoy swimming all day...away from many people.
